LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Laredo South Station arrested a convicted felon of a sex crime in a local ranch in south Laredo. The incident occurred on the morning of June 30, when an individual was arrested for entering illegally into the United States at a local ranch off of U.S. Highway 83. During his processing, the agents identified him as Salvador Avila-Rodriguez, a 48-year old Mexican national. Records checks revealed that Avila-Rodriguez has a previous significant criminal felony conviction for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse in Saint Charles, IL., that carried a 180-day sentence. His record further showed multiple deportations from the U.S.
Avila-Rodriguez was criminally charged for his immigration violations and remains in U.S. Border Patrol custody pending prosecution. Despite the ongoing international COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and our communities by preventing dangerous criminal elements from entering into the United States.
