Border Patrol Arrests in California Illegal Alien with Homicide Warrant

San Clemente, Calif. - Early this morning, while rendering assistance to the California Highway Patrol, the U.S. Border Patrol arrested an illegal alien with an active homicide warrant.

At around 2:30 a.m., the U.S. Border Patrol responded to a call for translation assistance by the California Highway Patrol for the occupants in a truck being processed at the Northbound Interstate-5 truck scales. Border Patrol agents questioned the driver and passenger and determined that the passenger, a 48-year-old male Mexican national, was in the country illegally.

Agents brought the man to a Border Patrol station for further processing where they discovered the man had an active homicide warrant that was issued from Orange County Sherriff's Office on June 18, 2009. Later, the Santa Anna Police Department took custody of the suspect.

Through the cooperation of strategic law enforcement partners a potentially dangerous suspect was removed from the streets. San Diego Sector's objective is to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in border communities.
