EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents disrupt smuggling attempts throughout the Rio Grande Valley which resulted in the apprehension of 19 illegal aliens.
On Wednesday, Falfurrias agents working at the checkpoint referred a sedan for secondary inspection following a K-9 alert. In the secondary inspection area, agents found two illegal aliens inside the trunk of the vehicle.
On Thursday afternoon, McAllen agents responded to information of a vehicle bailing out on Military Highway, near Abram, Texas. A search of the area resulted in the apprehension of 10 illegal aliens.
A few minutes later, Weslaco agents working near Donna, Texas, observed a silver vehicle traveling northbound from the Rio Grande. Agents conducted a vehicle stop and discovered seven illegal aliens inside.
This morning, the Mission Police Department requested assistance from the Border Patrol in response to a vehicle bailout. Agents and Mission Police officers searched the area resulting in the apprehension of eight illegal aliens.
Border Patrol referred all cases for prosecution.
Operation Big Rig is a call to action for the community to get involved and call 911 if they see or are aware of smuggling or suspicious activity, “They’re humans, not cargo.”
