Border Patrol Seizes Marijuana

Border Patrol agents seized multiple bundles of marijuana during the last week.

On two separate occasions within a week, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Van Horn station discovered multiple bundles in the desert while conducting normal patrol duties.  In both instances, the bundles were constructed into makeshift backpacks.  The contents of the bundles were later identified as marijuana, weighing over 400 pounds valued at over $350,000.

 

The marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

 

Big Bend Sector Border Patrol agents, patrol 517 miles of the southwest border, an area that extends from Sierra Blanca, Texas to Sanderson, Texas. The Van Horn Station area of responsibility consists of 31.1 miles of border with Mexico, and approximately 4,965 square miles of terrain.
