Border Patrol Stops Narcotic Smuggling Attempt in the Rio Grande Valley

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents foiled a smuggling attempt near the Rio Grande and seized nearly $300K worth of marijuana.

Tuesday afternoon, agents from the Fort Brown Station working in Brownsville, Texas, observed a small silver pickup traveling north of the Rio Grande. As agents approached the vehicle, the driver abruptly turned back towards the river. Agents observed the driver bail out and swim to Mexico. A search of the truck’s bed revealed several bundles of marijuana weighing over 370 pounds, worth an estimated $300K.
