CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an undocumented individual with a prior sexual offense conviction, Saturday night.
At approximately 11:27 p.m., agents apprehended a group of three individuals who illegally entered the United States through the desert area, east of the city of Calexico. None of the individuals had proper documentation to be legally present in the U.S. The individuals were placed under arrest and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.
Record checks revealed that one of the individuals, a 31-year-old male, Mexican national, was previously convicted for a sexual offense, sex with a minor: 3+ years younger, sentenced to six months in jail and three years of probation. Additionally, this individual has been previously ordered on two accounts to be removed from the U.S. but voluntarily returned to his native country of Mexico before his recent apprehension.
Since Oct. 1, 2021, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and/or removed 17 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.
U.S. Border Patrol will process this individual for an Expedited Removal and the other two individuals will be removed from the U.S. under Title 42.
