Nogales, Arizona - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agriculture Specialists stopped 4 illegal importations when they seized prohibited agriculture products.
On February 20, CBP Agriculture Specialists were screening traffic coming from Mexico. The Agriculture Specialists detected 4 separate incidents of illegal importation of agriculture products which resulted in fines and penalties totaling $950.
CBP Agriculture Specialists seized the prohibited agriculture products. "It is difficult for some of the traveling public to recognize the seriousness of the importation of prohibited agriculture products," said Guadalupe Ramirez, Area Port Director for the DeConcini and Mariposa Ports of Entry. These prohibited products can be a vehicle for harmful diseases and insects that can have a devastating impact on our nations food stores as well as the economy. Customs and Border Protection remains committed in protecting and securing our nation.
