San Luis, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Luis port of entry arrest three in separate drug smuggling cases.
The first incident occurred when a 30-year-old woman attempted to smuggle marijuana hidden in the Toyota Camry she was driving. The woman was referred to the vehicle secondary lot for further inspection where the CBP officers found marijuana packages weighing more than 120 pounds inside the speaker box.
The woman was immediately arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
The marijuana has an estimated street value of $269,561.60.
The second incident occurred also on February 6 when a 20-year-old man was met by CBP officers processing travelers using the pedestrian building for entry into the United States. The man was referred into the office due to his demeanor and subsequently searched with positive findings of two marijuana packages taped to his inner thighs weighing just over one pound.
CBP officers also arrested another man on February 8 for attempting to smuggle marijuana taped to his inner thigh. The man was driving a Dodge stratus and was referred to the secondary lot for further inspection. Once in secondary the officers noticed the mans demeanor and subsequently conducted a search resulting in the finding of a marijuana package weighing just under one pound along with 3.27 grams of cocaine.
Both men were immediately arrested and turned over to the San Luis, Ariz. Police Department for further investigation.
