SEATTLE —A 46-year-old man from Seattle was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Seattle-Tacoma Airport last Saturday when he was attempting to depart the United States en route to San Jose Cabo, Mexico, aboard Alaska Airlines flight 204.
Derik Paxton Hausman – a U.S. citizen was taken into custody after CBP officers encountered him in the jetway about to depart the United States. CBP officers held Hausman until the Port of Seattle Police responded and took custody of him pending extradition to San Jose, California. Hausman was traveling with his daughter; however the Port of Seattle Police made arrangements with the child’s mother for her to be picked up.
“CBP officers at Sea-Tac International Airport continuously screen passengers to identify and apprehend wanted fugitives arriving in and departing from the United States,” said Area Port Director Mark Wilkerson. “Our efforts, in coordination with state and local law enforcement agencies are part of the ongoing effort to keep communities safe.”
