LEWISTON, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Lewiston port of entry arrested a 23 year-old U.S. citizen found to be in possession of approximately 55 grams of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia that consisted of scales and glassine baggies.

Yesterday, CBP officers encountered a male subject with no identification who claimed to have made a wrong turn onto the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. Subsequently, the subject was referred for a secondary inspection where CBP officers then discovered the aforementioned drug paraphernalia and marihuana in the glove compartment. CBP officers also determined that he was currently on parole for weapons and controlled substance convictions. Additionally, it was also determined that the subject was operating the vehicle while on a suspended driver’s license, a misdemeanor. CBP officer’s then notified with the subject’s parole officer who revoked his parole status and issued a warrant for his arrest.

After CBP and New York State Police processing the subject was turned over the New York State Division of Parole.

“In this case, our CBP officers took the extra steps to identify an individual on parole who was in possession of narcotics,” said Acting Buffalo Port Director Sharon Swiatek. “This is also another prime example of our excellent working relationship with our law enforcement partners.”
