CBP Officers at Brownsville Port Arrest Man Wanted for Aggravated Assault

Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville Port of Entry apprehended a man on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office in Dallas, Texas.

On February 3, CBP officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge referred Jose Angel Paz Castro, 31, a U.S. citizen and resident of Brownsville, Texas for a secondary examination after a primary check revealed a possible active arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges. Castro arrived at the port of entry as a passenger of a blue Chevrolet Suburban.

A CBP officer's checks of a CBP database identified Jose Angel Paz Castro as the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant from Dallas County, Dallas, Texas. Pending charges against Castro were confirmed for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. CBP officers arrested Castro and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the Brownsville Police Department. Castro was transported to the city jail pending extradition to Dallas County, Dallas, Texas.

"This wanted fugitive is off the streets and will now face his pending charges in Dallas County. This apprehension took place because of the diligence by our frontline protectors in CBP," said Michael Freeman, CBP port director, Brownsville port of entry.
