CBP Officers at Brownsville Port Arrest Man Wanted on Charges of Sexual Assault of a Child

Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville port of entry apprehended a man on a warrant for sexual assault of a child from Dallas County in Dallas, Texas.

On February 1, CBP officers at the Gateway International Bridge referred Ignacio Gutierrez, 64, a United States citizen and resident of Dallas, Texas for a secondary examination after a primary check revealed a possible active arrest warrant for sexual assault involving a child. Gutierrez arrived at the port of entry as the driver of a pickup.

A CBP officer's checks of a CBP database identified Ignacio Gutierrez as the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant from Dallas County, Dallas, Texas. Pending charges against Gutierrez are sexual assault of a child. CBP officers arrested Gutierrez and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the Cameron County Sheriff's Office. Ignacio Gutierrez was transported to the Carrizales/Rucker Detention Center pending extradition to Dallas County, Dallas, Texas.

"Use of a CBP database on primary by Brownsville's CBP officers was instrumental in the apprehension of this wanted fugitive. This is another good example of the important work being done by CBP at the border," said Michael Freeman, CBP port director at the Brownsville port of entry.
