Naco, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a marijuana smuggling attempt when they seized $86,000 of marijuana concealed in a non-factory compartment constructed under the bed liner of a pick-up truck.
On January 27 at a little past 3 p.m. CBP officers became suspicious of a 1993 GMC Sierra Pick-up truck that was being driven by a 31-year-old man. The man was identified as a United States citizen and resident of Tucson, Ariz.
CBP officers searched the vehicle. Utilizing high-tech equipment, the CBP officers discovered a non-factory compartment constructed under the bed liner of the pick-up truck. The non-factory compartment contained about 38 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $86,000.
CBP officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The man was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution
