CBP Officers Offer Humanitarian Assistance at Naco Port of Entry

Naco, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assist in humanitarian efforts in order to save a young boy's life.

On January 12 at about 9:30 p.m. a Cruz Roja ambulance arrived at the Naco, Ariz., port of entry with a 14-year-old boy that had sustained life threatening injuries from a vehicle roll-over accident that had occurred in Naco, Sonora, Mexico.

Bisbee Paramedics were immediately contacted and responded to the POE. The paramedics deemed it necessary to air-lift the boy to the University Medical Trauma Center in Tucson, Ariz.

Due to the seriousness of the boy's injuries the CBP officers accommodated the landing of the "Flight for Life Helicopter" at the POE. The young boy was a Mexican national and required a special humanitarian document that was granted expeditiously by CBP in order to expedite the transport of injured boy.

Thanks to the quick response of the CBP officers, the Bisbee Paramedics, and Flight for Life Medi-Vac Team, the young boy was able to get the necessary life saving medical attention and is currently doing well on his road to recovery.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
