Naco, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug-smuggling attempt when they seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana concealed in the walls of the cab of a pick-up truck.
On February 6 at about 5:30 a.m., CBP officers were screening travelers when they became suspicious of a 2000 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab being driven by a 31-year-old woman who was identified as a Mexican national and resident of Cananea, Sonora, Mexico.
CBP officers searched the woman's vehicle and discovered that the rear side walls of the Dakota Extended Cab were loaded with packages of marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was more than 100 pounds with an estimated street value of $227,000.
CBP officers seized the vehicle and the marijuana. The woman was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.
