LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge seized methamphetamine that totaled over $780,000 in street value.

“Drug trafficking organizations are persistent in their attempts to smuggle hard narcotics into the United States," said Acting Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry. "As this seizure indicates, through hard work and vigilance, we will continue to intercept these dangerous drugs at our port of entry before they can harm our communities."

The enforcement action occurred on Saturday, March 20th, when a CBP officer assigned to the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge referred a commercial bus making entry from Mexico for secondary inspection. A 30-year-old male United States citizen passenger voluntarily presented his belongings for a non-intrusive imaging system examination, resulting in the discovery of 39.24 pounds of alleged methamphetamine concealed within his belongings.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $784,837.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The driver was arrested, and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
