CBP Officers Seize Marijuana and Cocaine at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge

Hidalgo, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge recently seized 101 pounds of marijuana and 5.2 pounds of cocaine in two unrelated enforcement actions.

CBP officers seized the marijuana on Saturday from a northbound 2003 Chevy pickup truck. After the initial primary inspection, the vehicle was referred to secondary for further inspection. In secondary, officers found 16 packages hidden in the vehicle's tires. The packages contained marijuana with a total weight of 101 pounds and an estimated street value of pounds of $80,882.

Later the same day, CBP officers came in contact with a northbound 2002 Nissan Sentra sedan. A CBP officer referred the vehicle to secondary for further inspection. During a secondary inspection, officers found two packages containing a total of 5.2 pounds of cocaine hidden in the vehicle's rocker panel. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $167,196.

Both cases were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation. CBP officers seized the marijuana, cocaine and both vehicles.

Hector A. Mancha, CBP Port Director, Hidalgo, Pharr and Anzalduas said, "Our frontline officers did great enforcement work in intercepting and seizing these two loads of narcotics."
