EAGLE PASS, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Camino Real International Bridge arrested a man in connection with an alleged attempt to smuggle one undocumented noncitizen minor child through the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
“Detection of this alleged smuggling attempt was made possible by the great teamwork of our officers. I am proud of the vigilance and dedication to duty displayed by the men and women of the Port of Eagle Pass,” said (A)Port Director Michael Martinez, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
On February 21, 2023, CBP officers assigned to the Camino Real International Bridge encountered a male 18-year-old U.S. citizen accompanied by one male minor from Mexico to the U.S. as passengers in a taxi. The adult male claimed the minor was a U.S. citizen and presented a Texas birth certificate as proof of identity. During the examination, CBP officers discovered the birth certificate did not belong to the minor, he was not a U.S. citizen, and he did not possess valid entry documents.
The adult male placed under arrest pending criminal proceedings.
