National Park Service Closing Highway 17 Due to Anticipated Blizzard Conditions
CHIEF MOUNTAIN, Mont. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations has been notified by the National Park Service that due to blizzard conditions and heavy snow accumulations forecasted beginning Friday night, Highway 17, which is the road to the port of Chief Mountain will be closed at 4 p.m. on Sept. 27.
With the closure of the road, CBP will also close the Chief Mountain Port of Entry for the season.
The port of entry will re-open on May 15, 2020.
Sweetgrass Area Port Director Daniel Escobedo said, “During the summer of 2019, CBP officers at the Chief Mountain Port of Entry did an amazing job keeping the homeland safe processing thousands of travelers arriving into the United States from all over the world.”
