Convicted Sex Offender Arrested by Border Patrol Agents

Carrizo Springs, Texas U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs Station arrested a convicted sex offender, Nov. 13.

“Securing our border protects every city, county, and community across the nation,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II. “I am so proud of our agents taking another dangerous felon out of our neighborhoods.”

Agents arrested Efrain Sillero-Galindo, 56, a citizen of Mexico, shortly after he illegally entered the United States. During processing, agents discovered that Sillero-Galindo was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Austin, in 1996 and sentenced to 10 years incarceration. Sillero-Galindo was most recently removed from the United States in 2006.

As a convicted felon, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry after Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
