Del Rio, Texas – Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz is pleased to announce the appointment of Doyle Edward Amidon Jr. as Deputy Chief Patrol Agent of the Del Rio Sector. He assumed his duties, Sept 29.
Amidon entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol on March 13, 1995, beginning his career at various sectors such as San Diego, El Centro, Yuma, Big Bend, Del Rio, Laredo and Rio Grande Valley. Amidon has had international assignments in Baghdad, Iraq; Kabul, Afghanistan; Mexico City, Mexico; and Cairo, Egypt.
Amidon has held numerous collateral positions to include Detection Canine Handler, Special Response Team (SRT) member, Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) team leader; and he served as the Adjutant to the Deputy Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol. Most recently, he served as DHS / CBP Attaché in Cario, Egypt.
Prior to joining the U.S. Border Patrol, Amidon served in the United States Air Force. In 2008, he attended the prestigious U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. Additionally, Amidon holds an Associate’s Degree in Sociology and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Management.
