Eagle Pass CBP officers seize hard narcotics worth over $3.8M

EAGLE PASS, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations officers seized hard narcotics that totaled over $3,800,000 in street value. 

“Although anti-terrorism is our primary mission, CBP officers continue to maintain their vigilance to ensure commercial entries are safe and free of contraband, as this narcotics seizure illustrates,” said Port Director Pete Beattie, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

The seizure occurred on October 20th at the Camino Real Import Lot when CBP officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered a 2006 Freightliner tractor hauling a flatbed trailer arriving from Mexico. The tractor and trailer were referred for further examination. Following non-intrusive inspection system and K-9 inspection, CBP officers discovered 151 packages containing a total 420.1 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine hidden within the beams of the flatbed. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $3,863,032.
    
CBP seized the narcotics, tractor and the trailer. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents are investigating the seizure.
