El Centro Sector Fiscal Year to Date Update

IMPERIAL, Calif. — Comparison to last fiscal year, U.S. Border Patrol El Centro Sector (ELC) has experienced a 36 percent decrease in total apprehensions from 15,519 to 9,696.  Border Patrol agents of El Centro Sector continue to prevent illegal entries and stop dangerous drugs from reaching our communities.

 

The fiscal year to date 2020 (FYTD) breakdown of individuals processed in ELC is 617 unaccompanied alien children (UAC), 733 family units (FMU), and 8,316 single adults.  Compared to fiscal year 2019, when ELC processed 1,356 UAC, 4,897 FMU, and 9,266 single adults, this represents an overall 36 percentage decrease.

 

Due to the new border wall project and policies the administration has implemented, there has been a 54 percent decrease in UAC and an 85 percent decrease of FMU in ELC when compared to FYTD 2019.

 

The following are the total drug seizures for El Centro Sector during the FYTD 2020:

Cocaine: 28.68 lbs.

Marijuana: 20.79 lbs.

Meth: 749.21 lbs.

Heroin: 76.14 lbs.

Fentanyl: 16.47 lbs.

Gang Members: 6

 

ELC FYTD 2020 rescues and fatalities:

 

Rescues: 3

Fatalities: 0
