SALTON CITY, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents seized narcotics with a combined estimated street value of close to $12,000 from three United States citizens attempting to smuggle it through an immigration checkpoint, Friday evening.
At approximately 6:26 p.m., a 2003 black Mercedes-Benz S430 approached the Highway 86 checkpoint. The agent inspecting vehicles in the primary lanes referred the vehicle to secondary inspection.
A Border Patrol K-9 detection team alerted to the rear of the vehicle. Agents proceeded to inspect the trunk of the vehicle and discovered a clear bag of pills often called “M30” and two oval shaped bundles inside of a speaker in the trunk. The contents of the clear bag contained pills that tested positive for fentanyl and the contents of the bundles tested positive for methamphetamine.
All occupants of the vehicle will be processed accordingly.
The 598 pills of fentanyl with an estimated street value at $5,980, and .2 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value at $5,970, concealed in the vehicle were seized.
