EDINBURG, Texas – Since Monday, U.S. Border Patrol Agents working in conjunction with multiple law enforcement agencies discovered five stash houses and 35 illegal aliens.

On Monday, Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector agents received information of an apartment in Mission, Texas, harboring illegal aliens. Agents working in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Hidalgo County Constables Office Precinct #3 responded to the location. Agents and officers received consent to enter the residence and encountered multiple illegal aliens from Mexico inside. During the course of the investigation, agents seized more than $14,000 dollars and 9,000 pesos related to the stash house operation.

Minutes later, RGV Sector agents working in conjunction with HSI and the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office received information of a residence in rural Edinburg, Texas, operating as a stash house. Agents and deputies responded to the residence and discovered 14 illegal aliens from the countries of Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Ecuador and Guatemala.

Additionally since Monday, agents and law enforcement officers discovered three additional stash houses and arrested 16 illegal aliens.

Border Patrol processed the cases and subjects accordingly.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
