Early Monday morning, an agent assigned to the Sarita Checkpoint conducted an immigration inspection on all passengers of a Cadillac CTS. During the inspection, the agent referred the driver to the secondary area for further investigation. Instead of complying, the driver fled the checkpoint at a high rate of speed. A Deputy from the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Border Patrol agents and pursued the fleeing vehicle. After a brief pursuit, the driver lost control of the Cadillac and rolled the vehicle over. Agents assisted with the extraction of the driver and two passengers from the wrecked vehicle and determined the passengers were illegally present in the United States. Additionally, a third illegal alien was located inside the trunk of the vehicle. Emergency Medical Services transported the driver and three passengers to the hospital for medical evaluation.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and to help save lives by reporting suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.
