LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Zapata Station, working with Zapata County Sheriff’s Office (ZCSO), stopped a human smuggling attempt in Zapata, Texas.

The incident occurred on March 23, when agents responded to a request for assistance from ZCSO deputies involving a vehicle bailout that happened near a local restaurant located off U.S. Highway 83.  Agents searched the area and apprehended 16 undocumented individuals and ZCSO deputies arrested the driver.  The undocumented individuals were identified as being from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.  They were all taken into custody pending further investigation.
