LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo North Station arrested several individuals as they attempted to evade apprehension by using fraudulent identification documents as they were traveling in a commercial bus through the Interstate 35 (I-35) checkpoint.
The incident occurred during the early morning of September 11, when agents were conducting immigration inspections aboard a commercial passenger bus. During the inspections, agents discovered three undocumented individuals who presented fraudulent U.S. passport cards.
Jesus Ayala-Cano, 30-year-old Mexican national, Leabardo De Lira-Cruz, a 32-year-old-Mexcian national, and Lucas Mancia, a 24-year-old Guatemalan national, were taken into custody to be processed for their immigration violations.
The use of fraudulent documents is another tactic that criminal organizations use to take advantage of those who they seek to exploit knowing they will be caught by the keen eyes of agents. Agents remain vigilant while performing their official duties, enabling legitimate trade and travel through checkpoints.
