LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician (EMTs) assigned to the Hebbronville Station rendered first aid at a high school track meet to an injured student in Hebbronville, Texas.
On March 22, Border Patrol agents were notified from Jim Hogg County Sheriff’s Office requesting EMT assistance for a 14-year-old Hebbronville High School student with a possible knee dislocation. The injury occurred during a track meet competition, due to the remote location, EMS was not available. Border Patrol EMTs from the Hebbronville Station arrived on scene and stabilized the student’s knee. He was then transported to a helipad in town, and was airlifted to the nearest hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, for further treatment.
The United States Border Patrol has 1,432 EMTs nationwide with Laredo Sector Border Patrol having 142 EMTs. There are 12 EMTs assigned to the Hebbronville station.
