LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents visited area schools in October for the annual 2024 Red Ribbon Week.
During the annual Red Ribbon Week of Oct. 23-31, Laredo Sector Border Patrol Stations presented at area schools. This year’s Red Ribbon theme, "Life is A Movie, Film Drug Free, ™" students interacted with agents through various presentations that honored fallen Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
The students and Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents recited the traditional Drug Free Pledge, “I pledge to grow up safe, healthy and drug free by understanding the dangers of drug use and abuse, respecting myself and being drug free, spreading the word to family and friends about the importance of being healthy and drug free.”
Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s largest and longest-running drug awareness and prevention program. It is a campaign that brings awareness to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention.
The mission of Red Ribbon Week is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free America.
