Nogales, Arizona - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a smuggling attempt when they seized nearly $1 million of cocaine and methamphetamines concealed in the floor board of a vehicle.
On Feb. 20, at approximately 2:30 p. m. CBP officers were screening traffic coming from Mexico. The officers selected a 2003 Chevy Tahoe being driven by a 27-year-old man from Obregon, Sonora, Mexico for further inspection. With the assistance of a special trained K-9 team the CBP officers discovered packages of cocaine and methamphetamines concealed in a false compartment built into the rear floor board the Chevy Tahoe. The total weight of cocaine and methamphetamines was more than 30 pounds with an estimated street value of nearly $1 million.
CBP officers seized the vehicle and the marijuana and the man was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.
