EAGLE PASS, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Laredo Field Office formally announced the selection of Paul Del Rincon as port director for the Eagle Pass Port of Entry during a change of command ceremony held at the International Center for Trade.  Del Rincon succeeds John L. Brandt, who will be retiring at the end of this fiscal year.

“I am proud and excited to begin this new venture in my career as port director for the Port of Eagle Pass.  I had the privilege of working with the great men and women of CBP at this port earlier this year and I was very impressed with their dedication and commitment to the communities from both sides of the border.  I plan to continue and enhance partnerships with the cities of Eagle Pass, Texas and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.  Earlier this year I implemented operational strategies that proved to be fruitful, such as the opening of the port’s Trusted Traveler Program enrollment center and the implementation of a dedicated SENTRI lane at The Camino Real International Bridge.  I’m honored to serve the bordering cities of Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras as we strive towards common goals of securing our communities and improving legitimate travel and trade,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

“Paul has exceeded all expectations and has already established solid relationships at all levels to improve operations at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry,” said Director Field Operations David P. Higgerson, Laredo Field Office.  “I’m confident his leadership, hard work, and dedication will take this port to new heights.”

The ceremony’s most awaited moment occurred when DFO Higgerson passed on the guidon flag to Port Director Del Rincon, as a symbol of turning over command of the port, and was received with a loud applause from all in attendance.  PD Del Rincon confidently announced he assumed command then took the podium for his first official remarks as the officer in charge.  PD Del Rincon thanked all in attendance for taking time from their busy schedules to attend this most significant ceremony for him and his family.  “I am truly humbled to have been selected as the leader for the Eagle Pass Port of Entry and the great group of officers that work here.  This, a career dream that is now a reality, will give me the opportunity to build on the legacy that previous port directors have achieved as well as set ambitious but achievable goals that will make this the best port in south Texas.” said Port Director Del Rincon.

PD Del Rincon in a very heartfelt recognition thanked his mother, Salome Del Rincon and family members for all their continued love and support throughout his 23 years of government service.  He especially thanked his wife, Monica Del Rincon, for her companionship, love, and support on all of his career endeavors.

Mr. Del Rincon began his federal law enforcement career in 1995 with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service at the Port of Douglas, Arizona.  He is a graduate of Western New Mexico University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice and a minor in Sociology.  In 2009, Mr. Del Rincon accepted the position of Border Security Coordinator at the Tucson Field Office.  Now, in his new leadership position at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, PD Del Rincon manages a workforce of over 250 employees, oversees operations at the Municipal Airport and three international border crossings that include the Eagle Pass International Bridge, the Union Pacific Rail Road Bridge, and the Camino Real International Bridge that also serves as a commercial trade facility.

The Laredo Field Office and the Eagle Pass Port of Entry staff congratulate and offer well wishes to PD Paul Del Rincon and his family for this most prestigious recognition.
