EDINBURG, Texas –With the help of a K-9, Border Patrol agents foil two smuggling events that resulted in the seizure of  marijuana worth an estimated $380K.

Early this morning, a Honda Ridgeline arrived at the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint for an immigration inspection. During the inspection, a K-9 alerted to the vehicle. Agents searched the vehicle and discovered 39 bundles of marijuana, weighing 287 lbs. The driver and passenger were arrested.

Yesterday, agents assigned to the Fort Brown station observed four subjects carrying bundles of contraband. Upon seeing the responding agents, the four subjects dropped the bundles and fled back towards Mexico. Agents seized four bundles, weighing 148 pounds.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
