On Friday afternoon, McAllen agents encountered a large group of family units and unaccompanied children south of Granjeno, Texas. During the encounter, agents identified a Guatemalan woman carrying her unresponsive, two year-old child. Agents treated the child for a heat related illness and called an ambulance to transport the child to the hospital for further medical evaluation. At the hospital, medical staff advised that the child had spider bites on the back of his neck, causing a severe allergic reaction. Additionally, the child had suffered a head injury causing internal hemorrhaging and ultimately airlifted to a San Antonio, Texas hospital for advanced medical treatment.
