YUMA, Ariz. – Wellton Station agents working in Dome Valley arrested one U.S. citizen and three illegal aliens from Mexico during an attempted human smuggling event Tuesday.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., agents observed a white Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on Old Highway 80. Border Patrol agents performed an immigration stop of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of three illegal aliens from Mexico lying in the rear of the vehicle.

The driver, a 25-year-old male from Stanton, CA, was wearing a reflective worker’s vest in an attempt to blend in with local work traffic while bypassing the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint. The subject was arrested for alien smuggling.  The three Mexican nationals were 20, 23 and 35 years of age.

Dome Valley is a route commonly used by smuggling organizations to evade apprehension by circumventing the Immigration Checkpoint on Interstate 8, east of Yuma.
