LAREDO, TEXAS – Working on information received of suspicious activity at a residence, U.S. Border Patrol agents along with Homeland Security Investigations and the Webb County Sheriff’s Office, in a joint law enforcement operation, discovered a residence that was being used to harbor undocumented aliens in north Laredo.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 14, when the combined agencies conducted a consensual search of a residence on Bristol Road. The search led to the discovery of eight individuals inside the home who were illegally in the United States from the countries of Mexico and Guatemala. They were taken into custody by the U.S. Border Patrol pending further investigation.
Only one of the individuals being harbored in the residence was wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). In recent stash house cases throughout Laredo, very few, if any, of the people being harbored were found wearing PPE, increasing the risk of spreading COVID-19 infection among each other, our communities, our agents, healthcare workers, and our nation. This is an ongoing concern that agents of the Laredo Sector take seriously and will continue to diligently target in an effort to battle the pandemic and stem the flow of illegal immigration. The Vision of the U.S. Border Patrol is to enhance the Nation’s security utilizing innovation, intelligence, collaboration, and public trust.
