Suspected smuggler gives chase and rams police car in the Rio Grande Valley

Donna, Texas –A human smuggler crashed through a fence after eluding Border Patrol agents at the Donna Port of Entry (POE).Truck crashed after failure to yield at the Donna, Texas Port of Entry

Monday night, Weslaco Station Border Patrol agents working near the Donna POE observed a man pick up a suspected illegal immigrant on Military Highway. When the agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled towards the Donna POE, ramming the entrance gate. As the driver continued, he hit a second gate and concrete barrier before coming to a stop. Agents and officers with the Donna Police Department chased the subjects on foot but were unable to apprehend them. The two subjects absconded south into Mexico.

During the incident the smuggler rammed a Donna PD vehicle. The officer was uninjured.
