SARITA, Texas – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Kingsville Station disrupted a smuggling attempt at the Sarita Checkpoint.

Yesterday, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Sarita Checkpoint referred a tractor-trailer, driven by a United States citizen, for a secondary inspection after a K-9 alerted to the trailer. Agents unlocked the cargo area and discovered 15 illegal aliens inside. An unaccompanied juvenile was among the group.

Agents arrested the driver and offered medical assistance to the smuggled aliens. Border Patrol referred the case for prosecution.

Operation Big Rig is a call to action for the community to get involved and call 911 if they see or are aware of smuggling or suspicious activity, “They’re humans, not cargo.”
