Two Starr County Smuggling Attempts Result in 12 Arrests

EDINBURG, Texas – On Tuesday, Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) Border Patrol agents and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers coordinated the disruption of two human smuggling attempts near Roma, Texas.

Yesterday morning, DPS troopers working with RGV agents conducted a vehicle stop near Roma, Texas, that resulted in the apprehension of two noncitizens and a United States citizen.  Troopers discovered and seized a pistol in the vehicle.  DPS took custody of the driver and agents transported the two noncitizens to the station to be processed accordingly.

Yesterday afternoon, information regarding an Escobares, Texas, apartment suspected of harboring migrants was relayed to the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station. RGV agents along with DPS trooper arrived at the residence and discovered nine undocumented migrant adults confined inside. Border Patrol took custody of all subjects. No caretaker was identified.
