Woman Arrested at Andrade Port of Entry for Attempting to Smuggle Meth and Fentanyl

ANDRADE, Calif. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Andrade port of entry seized 87 packages of methamphetamine and fentanyl from a woman Tuesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Andrade port of entry seized 87 packages of methamphetamine and fentanyl from a woman Tuesday.At about noon on Sept. 8, a CBP officer with a canine was screening vehicles waiting for their inspection to enter the U.S., when the dog alerted to the driver side rear quarter panel on a white 2009 Jeep Wrangler.  The CBP officer escorted the driver and vehicle to a secure area for further inspection.

During a detailed inspection, officers discovered what appeared to be narcotics inside the driver side rear quarter panel and the gas tank of the vehicle.  CBP officers removed 82 packages with a total aggregate weight of almost 88 pounds of methamphetamine and five packages with a total aggregate weight of six pounds of fentanyl from the vehicle.

The driver, a 25-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested for the alleged narcotic smuggling attempt.  CBP officers turned the driver over to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigation agents for further processing.

CBP seized the narcotics and vehicle.
