WASHINGTON – Today, CBP Senior Official Performing the Duties of Commissioner Troy A. Miller released the following statement on the CBP Integrity Strategy and appointment of the agency’s first Chief Integrity Officer:
“The cornerstone of CBP’s organizational culture is integrity, along with our core values of vigilance and service to country. Today, we are announcing new steps to build upon and advance an enduring culture promoting this core value.
“The new CBP Integrity and Accountability Strategy provides the framework within which CBP employees are all held accountable to the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior. This strategy expands upon the 2014 Integrity and Personal Accountability Strategy, ensuring that our CBP agency climate and culture both encourage and promote behavior that is not just compliant, but exemplary. To carry out this vision, we also announced that CBP’s Deputy Commissioner will be designated as our agency’s Chief Integrity Officer – the senior career official responsible for overseeing all integrity-related programs and initiatives.
“We recognize building and maintaining our culture of integrity is a generational commitment. Today’s announcement, while not in response to any specific incident, is instead an important step in continuing to drive action on this key priority to model for our current and future generations of CBP leadership and employees. We will remain focused and deliberate in establishing, promoting, and enforcing our standards from recruitment to retirement through training, leadership development, and retention of those who embody the virtues and character the American people deserve in service to our nation.”
