On June 10, 2021, at approximately 7:17 a.m. CST, a Border Patrol agent transporting multiple subjects along Interstate-10 near mile marker 145 approximately two miles east of Van Horn, Texas, was involved in a vehicle accident. The agent was traveling westbound in a government-owned vehicle when a commercial tractor trailer merged into the agent’s lane and forced the agent’s vehicle off the road. The agent lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle rolled over. At the time of the accident, the agent was transporting ten adult male subjects in the vehicle. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene. All individuals were transported to area medical facilities for evaluation. Emergency services at the accident determined the need for two individuals to be flown from the scene by helicopter. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility are reviewing this incident.
