San Diego Sector Border Patrol Agents Involved in Shooting

Statement:

 

In the early morning hours of July 29, 2018, Border Patrol agents patrolling on open all-terrain vehicles in an area known as Spooner’s Mesa near Imperial Beach, California were assaulted by an individual.  Border Patrol agents discharged their service issued weapons, striking the subject. Emergency Medical Services were contacted and the man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  This is an ongoing investigation, involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the San Diego Police Department.  CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility and U.S. Border Patrol, San Diego Sector is fully cooperating with all investigators. Any additional questions regarding this incident should be referred to the San Diego Police Department. CBP will provide more information when available.
