On behalf of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, I want to congratulate Acting Deputy Commissioner Ronald D. Vitiello for his selection to be the next Deputy Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve with Ron since the Department of Homeland Security was established, and have seen the outstanding results of his leadership across the agency, especially during his most recent role as CBP’s Acting Deputy Commissioner. Ron is a true leader, and a selfless public servant who embodies the U.S. Border Patrol’s motto, ‘Honor First.’ CBP and ICE are critical law enforcement partners within DHS and I am confident that we will continue our strong partnership as we work together to enforce the nation’s laws, protect our economy and ensure the safety of the American people.
With Ron’s departure, Robert E. Perez, Executive Assistant Commissioner of Operations Support, will serve as CBP’s Acting Deputy Commissioner.
