On June 15, 2021, at approximately 4:40 a.m. CST, U.S. Border Patrol agents witnessed a vehicle involved in human smuggling activity picking up subjects along Highway 90 near Van Horn, Texas. As agents initiated a vehicle stop, the vehicle failed to yield to law enforcement and continued traveling on Highway 90 towards Van Horn where it subsequently rolled over. Agents immediately contacted Emergency Medical Services and rendered aid to the passengers and driver of the vehicle. All eight subjects, one United States Citizen and seven undocumented migrants, were transported to the local hospital for evaluation. The Office of Professional Responsibility and Texas Department of Public Safety are currently investigating the incident.
