U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Brian L. Vogel passed away on December 30, 2021. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that this death occurred in the line of duty. CBPO Vogel will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
CBPO Vogel started his CBP career on June 10, 2002, and spent his 19-year career at the Sault Ste. Marie Port of Entry in Michigan. He retired from the Michigan Army National Guard as a staff sergeant after 20 years of honorable service to his country. Officer Vogel was survived by his wife and two children.
