U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Bruce R. Eckhoff passed away on January 5, 2022. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that this death occurred in the line of duty. Officer Eckhoff will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
Officer Eckhoff started his CBP career on February 22, 2005, at the San Francisco International Airport, where he served as a member of the Oakland/East Bay Seaport Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team from August 2008 to August 2010. He most recently served at the Sacramento International Airport in Sacramento, California. Prior to joining CBP, Officer Eckhoff earned a master’s degree from Chico State University in California. He also played in the Australian Football League. Officer Eckhoff is survived by his wife, two daughters, his parents and a sister.
