Customs Seal Private Ellis Drake and Private Asa Marsh of the Vermont Militia were fatally shot on August 3, 1808 while assisting a Customs collector capture the pirate boat "Black Snake" on the Winooski River near Burlington, Vermont.  Both men were stationed at Windmill Point, Vermont.
