CBP Technician Francisco V. Tomas passed away on September 1, 2021 . The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who determined that this death occurred in the line of duty. Mr. Tomas will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
Mr. Tomas began his federal career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, in Miami, Florida on August 3, 1994. He subsequently joined U.S. Customs and Border Protection in 2003. At the time of his death, Mr. Tomas was assigned to Air Cargo Agriculture Operations at Miami International Airport where he played an integral role in preventing harmful plants, agricultural products and communicable human diseases from entering the country.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, two daughters and a son: Francisco; three siblings and four grandchildren.
