U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Technology Officer James Taylor passed away on May 8, 2020. The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that his death occurred in the line of duty. Mr. Taylor will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.
Field Technology Officer Taylor began his 20-year Federal career in 1999 with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). He transitioned to the CBP OIT team in 2003 shortly after CBP was created under DHS. During his time with INS and CBP, James supported computer technology at JFK Airport, both in the terminals and outlying facilities as well as at the New York Field Office. James truly enjoyed his job and took pride in assisting people with using technology to meet mission goals. His warm smile and friendly nature will be missed by not only his OIT team but also by the larger CBP family at JFK.
